To Biffle Goes Battle, Stewart the War, Rednecks Take Wal Mart As Consolation

After fighting traffic and barriers for the past three days, the Homestead race has finally come and gone. I have no voice (not related to the Redneck Euphoria Syndrome so often associated with NASCAR) and as a result was unable to go with the Masterpiecce Group that had so generously offered me incredible seats on Saturday night.

In the end, my absence had no bearing on the outcome of the race or season. Greg Biffle won the race by a bumper. Tony Stewart won the NASCAR Title for the 2nd time in four years.

Of course, its always nice to have the race here. The RQ (redneck quotient) for the city goes through the roof. In fact, I knew it was race weekend when while sitting a Mario's Latin Cafe' surrounded by bent bill #8 hats, I heard the phrase, "Ma'y'am, mind I have anuther one a these here "Coffee Cone Leaky's???"

Battling for my favorite redneck moment this weekend was seeing a rather large NASCAR couple riding a moped down Palm Drive to the Track AND a group of 7 men with very high "RQs" tailgating in the Wal Mart parking lot about 5 miles from the track. Classic. I can't wait until next year's final race comes back to Homestead!
